Le sfide in questi primi anni del millennio appaiono numerose, una su quali politiche promuovere in una societ� dove a fronte di una corposa presenza di anziani si registra un numero sempre minore di giovani, spesso "tecnologici" e profondamente diversi dai loro progenitori? Le stesse istituzioni, anche se con un certo ritardo, hanno riconosciuto la necessit� di creare nuovi spazi di dialogo, nuove proposte educative, formative e sociali e soprattutto hanno compreso quanto sia importante estenderle lungo il corso di tutta la vita, attente ad una prospettiva di reciprocit� e interdipendenza positiva tra generazioni. Nel presente volume vengono elaborate alcune risposte e riflessioni analizzando e problematizzando gli attuali orientamenti formativi nei confronti dei rapporti intergenerazionali. I primi capitoli del volume tracciano un quadro aggiornato della situazione socio-demografica degli anziani e dei giovani oggi nel nostro Paese; viene poi presentata una riflessione pedagogica sui concetti di genitorialit� ed anzianit�, sull'impegno europeo per le politiche di lifelong learning e sugli orientamenti formativi all'educazione intergenerazionale. Nella seconda parte del volume vengono presentati i risultati di una ricerca empirica, condotta nella citt� di Taranto, sulla reciproca percezione tra generazioni e sulla predisposizione al dialogo intergenerazionale. I risultati ottenuti in questa ricerca confortano e, nello stesso tempo, stimolano ad un impegno sistematico per rafforzare il patto intergenerazionale nella societ�.
