INK: A Life in Letters

INK: A Life in Letters is the fascinating memoir recounting the forty-plus-year career of a longtime veteran of the journalism industry.

Filled with insight from an occupation that took him from his native New York to North Carolina, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Florida, Hawaii and Washington, DC, author Joe Junod shares some of the people, places, ideas, and experiences that helped shape his career, his life, and his thinking. While a few of the incidents were indeed unpleasant, they thankfully represent the minority.

Using the letters of the alphabet as a guide, chapters like “Attitude,” “Do the Right Thing,” “Leadership,” and “Trust & Teamwork” share an array of anecdotes and real-world wisdom from a man who has seen the best and worst the newspaper business has to offer.

Whether it’s advice from a seasoned mentor, lessons learned while working at a small award-winning newspaper, or thoughts on the importance of failure, this compact yet powerful volume focuses primarily on his early years in the trade and provides a unique glimpse into this dynamic, challenging world.

Joe Junod is a 70-year-old native New Yorker who traveled, for more than forty years, across the United States as a newspaper reporter, line editor, top editor, and senior media executive.

He is married to retired foreign affairs journalist Marilyn Greene. Together they have three children, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
