INTEGRATION OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS: Bridging Heterogeneous Databases

The papers collected here were compiled mainly from IIEE sources, and from two symposia at MIT (where the editor taught at the Sloan School) in 1987. The earliest paper - Multibase-Integrating Heterogeneous Distributed Database Systems (Smith, et al.) - dates from 1981 (Proceedings of the AFIPS); and the most recent - Transaction Management in a Multidatabase Environment (Bretbart, et al.) and Flexible Concurrency Control Using Value Dates (Litwin, Tirri) had not been previously published.
