Small 4to. Beige paper over boards with small printed wraparound front board/rear board paper label. 13pp. Near fine. Outstanding first thus of this early John Henry Nash production and one of his best known, in which he reprints the English bookbinder and printer's statement summing up the Arts & Crafts aesthetic first published by Doves Press in 1900. Cobden-Sanderson not only granted Nash permission to print it, but upon seeing it penned him a rave review, reading in part: "What a perfectly beautiful book you have made of The Book Beautiful! I am enchanted with it!" As are we, for this tight and bright copy is one of 165 numbered copies (#77) as colophon at rear noted. Front pastedown bears fine custom bookplate of Walter Hervey Gardner.
