Reviews
Phillips, a professional trainer and rider, discusses the development of a well-trained horse from work in hand through lunging, driving, and various levels of mounted training. He stresses the need to avoid both a heavy hand on the bit and sending false, often painful signals to a horse. Phillip's book is clearly written and can be used by beginning riders as well as experienced trainers. Most of the techniques apply to all styles of riding, and most horses will benefit from the author's philosophy. His concern for the horse is evident throughout. The chapters are short but very informative. Photos and index not seen.Susan Ebershoff-Coles, Indianapolis-Marion Cty. P.L.
