Do Idiots Rule the World? (Paperback or Softback)

IS THE PROBLEM THAT IDIOTS RULE — OR THE SYSTEM THAT PRODUCES THEM?

On election night, November 8, 2016, the world froze. Then came Brexit, Hungary, Brazil, Poland. Each time the same disbelief: "something is wrong here — but what?"

The author offers a thesis that changes the entire conversation: bad leaders are not produced by bad people. They are produced by specific conditions — and once those conditions exist, the system begins to select exactly this kind of leader, as if it had been designed to.

This book does not judge — it explains the mechanism. It shows how the collapse of shared reality, disinformation, and social-media algorithms prepare the ground for populism, and how the machinery of power operates the moment institutions lose their trust.

It is a study of the crisis of democracy written from a witness's perspective — by someone who watched a political system transform up close, not just read about it in textbooks.

Inside, you will discover:

• why the same pattern recurs from ancient Athens to Weimar Germany, Rwanda, and today's Poland and Hungary

• how the disintegration of facts and disinformation open the door to populism

• the role algorithms play in eroding our shared reality

• why populist voters are not stupid — but rational in a world that has stopped making sense

• how the mechanisms of power really work once courts, media, and parliaments weaken

• what can actually be done to strengthen a fragile democracy

For readers drawn to politics, history, and the nature of power — and for anyone who wants to understand the crisis of democracy more deeply than the daily headlines allow.
