Illuminating Perspectives Through Critical Visual Literacy

Wanju Huang is a clinical associate professor of learning design and technology at Purdue University. Her research covers online learning, STEM professional development, augmented reality/virtual reality, and AI in the classroom. She has received numerous teaching awards, published and presented nationally and internationally, and contributed to NSF-funded projects as a coprincipal investigator.

Filipa Machado Rodrigues is a researcher at the Network Center for Research in Anthropology (CRIA-NOVA FCSH) and a collaborating researcher at the Centre for Research and Studies in Fine Arts (CIEBA). She holds a PhD in art education (FBAUL) and a PhD in cognitive, language, and neurosciences (ICS UCP). She has advanced training in the Snoezelen approach from the International Snoezelen Association and is currently pursuing a PhD in anthropology. She dedicates herself to teaching in primary education and inclusive education, continuing education for teachers and educators, as well as volunteering in prison settings with young inmates in the field of visual arts.

Peter Klubek is head of Research and Access Services at the Edith Garland Dupré Library, University of Louisiana at Lafayette. An artist, librarian, and educator, his work bridges visual literacy, art, and information studies. He has published widely, exhibited nationally, and presented at international conferences on art, research, and education.

Ellen Corrigan is a professor of library services in the Metadata and Catalog Management department of Booth Library, Eastern Illinois University, in Charleston, Illinois. She earned her MLS and MA in art history at the University of Maryland. Prior to joining the faculty at EIU, she served as art librarian at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and at Penn State University.

Catalina Huilcapi-Collantes is a researcher, professor, and graphic and user-interface designer with a PhD in education in the Knowledge Society from the University of Salamanca. Her research primarily focuses on visual literacy, mobile and blended learning, evaluation of educational apps, teachers’ digital competence, and sustainable education.
