Towers wrote immediately after the French Revolution and published in 1796, showing considerabe interest in how Rome got on with the Revolutionaries; this the second edition revised by Congregational minister William Vint of Airedale nonconformist college in Idle, Yorkshire. The fulfilment of prophecy was a major theological issue at the time, and this is an immensely learned work drawing on major exegetes of eschatology back to Jospeh Mede and beyond. Also a considerable interest in Rome, and its overthrow in France. Only volume one slightly incomplete (lacking section a in prelims) volume but a rare book today. Size: 8vo.
