Solid very good eighth printing hardback of Robert Payne's translations of Chekhov, printed in the order they were written. Black cloth covered boards with bright red and silver print on spine. Deckle edges. Jacket is fair , clipped. Missing top left corner of front and one & a 1/4 inch vertical piece x half inch horizontal piece missing at top right of back. Two pieces chipped off at bottom back cover corners. Light signs of damp staining to front and bottom of back. Now in protective mylar.
