Imaging the Word: An Arts and Lectionary Resource: Volume 1

This book is the first of three volumes to unite images of artwork with Christian biblical lessons (in the form of "selected portions of scripture"). Among its uses the book may function as a contemplative tool for individuals and families involved in Bible study or as a resource for weekly devotional activities among church congregations. One definite attribute is the multicultural emphasis that endows each segment of the book with a broad range of art spanning ancient frescoes, a video still from the Tiananmen Square uprising, contemporary photography, and paintings as diverse as works by Rembrandt and Jacob Lawrence.
