Imperfect Liberty: A Defense of Those Rights Endowed by Our Creator

Long ago, tyrants dictated it was their divine right to limit man’s freedoms. Born in rebellion against this belief, the United States was established with a modern, enlightened philosophy: that man’s natural rights—such as self-defense, free speech, and liberty—are not subject to the whims of government.

Thus, the U.S. Constitution was formed, and for the first time in history, the people listed the government’s rights.

Yet the modern world seems content to surrender the liberties man has gained through millennia of bloodshed, trading it for that familiar, ancient despotism he only recently escaped. In light of history, why?

In the Founding Fathers’ own words, Imperfect Liberty not only presents why free speech, the right to bear arms, and our other natural rights are essential to America’s survival but also reveals why policies like excessive taxation, government debt, and socialism undermine the very liberties they fought to secure.
