Part I, September 1897; Part II, October 1897; Vol I-Part 3, no date; Vol. I-Part 4 no date; Vol. 1-Part 5, no date. Naval Editor Captain H.Garbett, R.N.; Military Editor Lieut.-Col. E.W.D. Ward, C.B. Each with uniform illustrated card covers (vol 1 is whitish, the remainder red-brown) with advertisements usually on all but the front. Each contains sixteen colour tinted photographs of naval and military life in the pre-motorised era, including views of wooden ships like HMS Victory and L'Immortalite, dressing deep-sea divers, ships' guns, modern battleships, cavalry camps, on manoeuvres etc. Wire staples with very little rust, covers soiled but with little wear except for a tear in the top corner of Part 3 which affect the first six plates.
