Inaba no Shirousagi: The White Rabbit of Inaba: 因幡の白兎: A Japanese Folktale (Kogetsu Japanese Tales)

A gentle bilingual retelling of one of Japan's most beloved folktales — now in English and Japanese, side by side.

A clever little white rabbit tricks a group of wani to help him cross the sea, but his mischief comes at a painful cost. Abandoned and hurting, he meets unkind advice from a group of proud brothers — until the youngest and gentlest of them, Onamuji, stops to help. What follows is a heartwarming tale of compassion rewarded, and a reminder that true kindness never goes unnoticed.

Inaba no Shirousagi: The White Rabbit of Inaba is Book 9 in the Kogetsu Japanese Tales series, a collection of classic Japanese folktales retold for young readers ages 7–12. Each softly illustrated, bilingual picture book pairs warm watercolor artwork with English and Japanese text, making it perfect for family read-alouds, language learners, and anyone curious about Japan's rich storytelling tradition.
