Old age is now generally recognized as one of the most pressing problems of the society. The change in the demographic position form high growth potential to decrease in population growth has further created new problems about elderly generation the result of increasing proportion of the old in the population. The process of modernization and industrialization has reduced the role of the family in looking after the aged and the state is forced to step into this vaccum to provide support to the aged. The growing proportion of the elderly is forcing all the societies to take notice of the aged and their problems and work out solutions to mitigate their difficulties. Major problems faced by the aged in India includes Income security health and personel care and social and emotional security. Among them the problem of income security is the most important one. In this volume an attempt was made to identify the problems encountered by the aged.
