A most handsome Second American edition in just about Fine condition with only limited signs of edgewear. Issued in sage-green boards, the front cover lettered in green upon a white paper label. Lightly browned dust-jacket shows portrait of Kipling on front and original price of $1.00 on inside flap. Livingston 487; Rectorial address delivered at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland on October 10, 1923. Originally published as "Man's Desire for Independence" in The London Times. Kipling became Rector of St. Andrews in 1922. "You know that there is no loneliness equal to the loneliness of youth at war with its surroundings in a world that does not care."; 8vo; 33 pages.
