India And The Empire: A Consideration Of The Tariff Problem (1908)

India and the Empire: A Consideration of the Tariff Problem is a book written by Montagu De Pomeroy Webb and originally published in 1908. The book delves into the relationship between India and the British Empire, specifically examining the issue of tariffs. Webb argues that the British Empire's tariff policies were hurting India's economy and hindering its development. He suggests that India should have more control over its own tariffs and trade policies in order to stimulate economic growth. The book also touches on the political and social implications of these economic policies, and how they impacted India's relationship with the rest of the British Empire. Overall, India and the Empire provides a critical look at the economic and political dynamics of the British Empire in the early 20th century, and offers insights into the challenges facing India as it sought to assert its independence. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
