Item description from seller

A smart copy of the cheap edition of this account of the author's own life and experiences in India. Cheap edition. The life and experiences of the author in India, with reference to the voyage, life in Hazara, snake charmers, street dogs, Mount Abu, Sikh landlords, kindness of neighbours, Kashmir, religion, state systems, Queen Victoria, leaving India, and more. Written by Sir Walter Roper Lawrence, an English member of the British Council of India and author who served in the Indian Civil Service in British India. With an introductory letter by Joseph Rudyard Kipling, an English novelist, short-story writer, poet, and journalist who was born in British India. In the original full blue cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Minor fading to the spine and the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting throughout. Further spotting to the endpapers. Very Good.
