A vanishingly scarce magazine for Christmas 1917, published in aid of the Imperial Indian War Fund.Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, eleven colour plates, and nine monochrome plates.This 1917 issue was the fourth year of publication.The contributions of the issue include 'The Arab of Mesopotamia' by Gertrude Lowthian Bell, 'The Reappearance of Moffatt' by Fitzgerald Lee, 'A Mesopotamian Picnic' by Cyril Cox, 'Pendale' by O. M. Rees, 'A Persian Adventure' by C. P. Skrine, 'The Coquette's Fate' by Captain C. Webb-Johnson, and more.Edited by Everard Digby.Collated, complete.Adverts to the front and rear of the volume, many of which are illustrated in colour and monochrome. In the original publisher's paper wraps. Externally, sound. Wear and loss to the backstrip. Tape repairs to the wraps. Wraps are a little age-toned and generally clean with a few minor handling marks. Stamp to the rear wrap. Minor edge wear to the wraps. Internally, textblock has detached from the wraps. Textblock is firmly bound, with minor straining to the first few pages of the adverts. Pages are bright with some spotting. Plate facing page 33 has been misbound, with a horizontal closed tear. Good Only.
