Indiana Post Office Mural Guidebook

Rediscover Indiana's 42 New Deal Post Offices

The United States Postal Service is selling historic buildings. Some of these house historic artwork created during the Great Depression of the 1930s. Not all the murals remain in their original location. In some cases the fate of the art, and buildings, remain unknown. Learn which towns have murals and which murals have been moved.

The Indiana Post Office Mural Guidebook will teach you the following:

• Which buildings and towns have murals viewable by the public.
• Which buildings have been closed and the artwork moved.
• Which building has been razed.
• Which art has been reported missing, lost or destroyed.

DAVID W. GATES JR. is an award winning author and post office enthusiast who has traveled thousands of miles nationwide in search of historic post office buildings and art. He blogs about his work at: Post Office Fans dot com. Although the murals have been around for more than 88 years, David discovered how often these are overlooked. Join David in his quest to visit them all. He lives in Crystal Lake, IL with his wife, son. When not photographing and documenting post offices, he can be found cooking, baking, hiking, or involved in do-it- yourself projects at home, not necessarily all at once and not necessarily in that order.
