Dorrbecker (Havana, Cuba), 5 3/4 x 8 inches tall hardcover, green marbled paper-covered boards over black leather spine, two raised bands and gilt lettering to spine, black endpapers, 220 pp. Slight to moderate staining, rubbing and edgewear to covers. Signed and inscribed by the author in Havana in the year of issue on the blank front free-endpaper. Scattered foxing throughout. About 20 pages with ink marginal tick marks. Creasing, chipping and edge tears to a number of pages in the end of the volume, though none of this interferes with the text. Overall, a nice copy of this uncommon title, quite rare signed. ~Y~ [1.5P] 'The Cuban sugar industry: overproduction, consumption and price stabilization' - In 1920, US banks gave large loans to finance Cuban efforts to profit from a speculative boom in world sugar prices. The boom collapsed shortly thereafter, however, and the banks took over the defaulting Cuban sugar producers. Additionally, many large US sugar companies operating in Cuba were vertically integrated with their own processing industries in the United States.
