The Inevitability of Relativism and Secularisation: The situation of the Catholic Church, according to Paul Valadier

What, then, is truth? A mobile battalion of metaphors, metonymies, anthropomorphisms—in short, a sum of human relations that have been poetically and rhetorically emphasised, transposed, embellished, and which, after long use, seem to a people solid, canonical, and obligatory: truths are illusions, the meaning of which has been forgotten, metaphors that have become worn out and without any noticeable force, coins that have lost their effigy and are now only considered as metal, no longer as coins. (F. Nietzsche).
