Spines slightly darkened and rubbed at ends. Crease to front board, Vol I. Corners slightly bumped and rubbed. Endpapers slightly faded. Vol II has flag sticker to first blank page. Vol I first blank page/half title missing. Else clean and tight copies. 380, 428 pp. With maps and battle plans. The author was President of the United States Naval War College. Here he describes, chapter by chapter, the battles and campaigns, mostly against the British Navy, from the time of the French Revolution to 1812 when Napoleon?s power was fading.
