IT Infrastructure and its Management

In the current competitive world, business enterprises face great challenges in scaling and managing their IT Infrastructure. To handle these challenges, IT Infrastructure management offers focused and efficient solutions in important infrastructure areas for developing and managing the organizational IT infrastructure. This book is aimed to help the undergraduate and graduate students of professional courses by making them familiar with the concept of IT Infrastructure and its management and providing them expertise in this area. It imparts knowledge of IT Infrastructure Management and related issues while keeping technical words at its minimum. The book contains eight chapters and starts with introduction on the basics of Information Technology (IT), IT Infrastructure and its management. Subsequently it delves into (provides) the detailed overview of IT Service and IT System Management processes.

Phalguni Gupta is a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kanpur, UP. He received his PhD degree from IIT Kharagpur, West Bengal in 1986. Prior to joining IIT Kanpur, he was with Image Processing and Data Product Group of the Space Applications Centre (ISRO), Ahmedabad, Gujarat (1983-1987) and was involved in developing a system for correcting image data received from first Indian Remote Sensing Satellite. His research interest includes sequential algorithms, parallel algorithms, online algorithms, image processing, biometrics, and identity and infrastructure management. Currently, he is responsible for several research projects in the area of image processing, biometrics and parallel processing. Over the last 26 years, he has published over 150 peer-reviewed journals and conference papers. He is also the coauthor of a book and six book chapters. He is a recipient of 2007 IBM Faculty Award. Surya Prakash is currently a PhD scholar in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kanpur, UP. He received his MS degree in computer science and engineering from IIT Madras, Tamil Nadu. His research interest includes image processing, computer vision, biometrics, and identity and infrastructure management. He has published two journals and nine conference papers. Umarani Jayaraman is currently a PhD scholar in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kanpur, UP. She received her MTech degree in computer science and engineering from Arulmigu Meenakshi Amman Engineering College, Tamil Nadu. Her research interest includes pattern recognition, biometrics, high dimensional data structures and infrastructure management.
