Infrastructures of (Non-)Knowledge: Virtuality and Epistemic Transformations

Scientific knowledge, in all its aspects, is widely understood to be shaped by social and material infrastructures, as well as by the practices unfolding within these arrangements. Considering ongoing, including AI-driven infrastructural transformations and digitization of epistemic cultures, the question of how infrastructures and practices shape what counts as (non-)knowledge arises anew. The interdisciplinary contributions to this volume offer a broad and nuanced insight into the interrelations between knowledge practices and their infrastructures, including libraries, Wikipedia, human bodies, digital corpora, and universities. Together, they foreground the complexity of knowledge, and invite readers to critically reconsider prevailing epistemic regimes.

Alexander Lang (M.A.) ist wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum.

Christina Lechtermann (Prof. Dr.) ist Professorin für Germanistische Mediävisitk an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum und leitet im Sonderforschungsbereich 1567 Virtuelle Lebenswelten das Teilprojekt B04. Zu ihren Forschungsinteressen zählen Textualität, Materialität, Kommentarformen der Literatur und fachthematische Literatur.

Prof. Dr. Norbert Ricken lehrt Erziehungswissenschaft mit dem Schwerpunkt Theoretische Erziehungswissenschaft an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum.

Tatjana Scheffler (Ph.D.), geb. 1980, ist Juniorprofessorin für Digitale Forensische Linguistik an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Sie promovierte an der University of Pennsylvania, USA, in formaler Semantik und Pragmatik. Ihre Forschung konzentriert sich auf die Analyse digitaler Dialoge in sozialen Medien mit korpus- und computerlinguistischen Methoden.
