Third edition, thoroughly revised and re-set. Maroon hardcover with title in gilt on spine. Condition: Very good, binding sound. Previous owners name and the date 9/8/43 neatly written at top of front endpaper. Pages are very lightly browned throughout. 336pp. 69 b/w illustrations inc. 4 plates. This book includes a historical introduction to inks as well as chapters on writing inks, tannin materials for inks, early methods of manufacture and and the nature of inks.
