Translation of the famous work L'insecte, originally published in France in 1858. Superior edition hard back binding in publisher's original gilt entomological decorated conker brown cloth covered boards, blocked and lettered gilt and black back and front, all page edges gilt, bevelled edges. Quarto. 10'' x 7''. Contains (xii), 368 pp with 140 illustrations drawn by Giacomelli and engraved by others. Small 'Faculty of Art' stamp to the verso of the title page, fox splashes to the early leaves, rubbing to the corners and across the spine ends and in Very Good condition. Member of the P.B.F.A. ENTOMOLOGY.
