Integrated Pest Management: Ideals and Realities in Developing Countries

Reappraises the integrated pest management (IPM) paradigm from the practical perspective of resource-poor farmers in developing countries. Early chapters review the IPM concept and its central tenets, discussing distinctions between pest control and management and important elements in applying IPM. Later chapters look at the history of IPM, especially its politicization in the US, argue that IPM works only under certain conditions, and suggest an alternative strategy for crop protection under resource-poor conditions.
