Intercell, An Artificial Intelligence Thriller, by Kay Duncan
Scientists, Robert Fletcher, 68, and Randolph Krauss, 58, were killed instantly in an explosion at Cybertech Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The one-story building located at 101 Lomas Road rocked downtown in a three-alarm blaze at 3:17 p.m. today. It burned to the ground during the seven minutes rescue workers took to arrive at the scene.
Cybertech's scientists perfected Smart Chip, an E-prom chip one hundred times faster than Prodigy and unlike any computer technology that we have on the market today. Cybersoft expected to revolutionize the computer industry with it and kept the technology under top secret wraps at this facility. It is unknown whether the technology was destroyed in the blaze.
A tropical breeze flowed across Tony Pierce's wicked grin as he watched anchor Julie Simon's Hillsborough County, Florida newscast. He rolled Cybertech's only Smart Chip prototype between his thumb and index finger, technology he needed to ensure success of his plans to take over Cybersoft Industries and laughed a deep-bellied gloat.
