Intercultural Responsiveness in the Second Language Learning Classroom

Contributed by educators from the US, Turkey, and Australia, the 15 chapters in this volume provide theoretical frameworks and research findings on intercultural responsiveness in the second language learning classroom. They address global leadership practices; the role of culture in English language preparatory programs in Turkey; biculturalism; cultural bias, self-identity, and self-efficacy; culture shock; and cultural misconceptions, misinterpretations, and misunderstandings in the classroom. They also consider English language learners' perceptions of teaching, intercultural nonverbal communication competence, self-determination in English language learning, the role persistence in graduation, the experiences of in-service teachers in the instruction of English learners, English language interventions that improve international business student group-work performance, the use of technology to bridge the intercultural gap, educational leadership programs through study abroad that result in intercultural responsiveness, and leadership traits for intercultural responsiveness.
