Intermediate algebra

Written for today's college student. It is tailored to the changes in the mathematical preparation of students, the shifts in their major fields of study, and new ideas in presenting the material to college students. This text squarely faces the fact that many of the college students in an intermediate algebra course have weak mathematical backgrounds or are older students who have not had a mathematics course in years. This text is not written for the mathematics major or the mathematically elite. Rather, it is written for the business major, the health science major, the life science major, the social science major, the art major, and so on. It is written for the student with gaps in his or her background, years since his or her last math course, poor reading ability, or "math anxiety."
