This is a revised edition of the second volume of the International dictionary of films and filmmakers. The second edition of Volume 1, Films, was published in 1990 (reviewed in Reference & Research Book News, October 1990), while new editions of volume 3, Actors and actresses, Volume 4, Writers and production artists, and Volume 5, a Title index for the whole series, will follow. The book comprises some 480 entries, each consisting of a brief biography, a complete filmography, a selected bibliography of works on and by the entrant, and an expository essay by a specialist in the field. Most of the entries from the previous edition have been retained here, although all have been thoroughly updated. There are, however, some 80 entrants new to this edition.
