Internationalizing the Business Curriculum: A Field Guide

The book will enable the interested administrator to strengthen the Business School by including the internationalization\globalization dimension. This will, in turn, give your students and tomorrow’s business leaders a better understanding of how to conduct business in a rapidly changing business environment. Thoroughly contemporary, the book includes two chapters devoted to technology: (1)"A View from Abroad" and (2) "Expanding Horizons with E-learning." The book is chock-full of practical tips, guidelines and insights as well as the theories behind the internationalization process. The authors are "champions" of International Business who have effectively changed their business schools and campuses to encompass a global perspective and global skills to meet the challenges of today’s workplace. The book also includes a bank of CIBER (Center for International Business Education and Research) programs/addresses, which provides a breadth of projects and programs for your faculty and administrators to discover throughout the country.

Robert F. Scherer is Professor of Management and associate dean for Community Relations in the Raj Soin College of Business at Wright State University (WSU), in Dayton, Ohio. He holds a Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Mississippi and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). He has published more than 100 scholarly and professional works including journal articles, conference papers, edited editions, and book chapters and reviews, in the areas of business education, performance, occupational stress and safety, entrepreneurship, international management, and gender issues in the workplace. Currently, he is directing WSU’s collaborative program with the British Virgin Island’s H. L. Stoutt Community College, which offers an M.B.A. to students in Tortola. He collaborated with the Universidad de La Frontera in Temuco, Chile, in the design of their Masters of Management degree program. He served as a Fulbright Senior Scholar in Chile, at the Universidad de Concepción during the 1998-1999 academic year. While in Chile he also taught at Universidad de Magallanes and Universidad del Desarrollo. Dr. Scherer serves or has served on the boards of more than ten public, nonprofit, or professional organizations. He is currently an executive editor for the Journal of Social Psychology. For nine years prior to entering a university career, he held managerial positions in the insurance and magazine publishing industries. He has received over $2 million in grant funding for international and domestic projects since 1994.

Sarah T. Beaton has been involved in international business education for a decade at the U.S. Department of Education. She previously administered the Business and International Education (BIE) program and currently oversees the BIE program, the Centers for International Business Education, and the Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Language program, two other Title VI programs, and two Fulbright-Hays programs as the Branch Chief of the International Studies Team. She designed and implemented several international faculty development conferences with both U.S. and foreign institutions of higher education. Her background includes the study of economics, liberal arts, and business—both at home and abroad. She is an enthusiastic internationalist and uses her talents to help develop sustainable and creative international programs at universities and colleges throughout the United States.
