We Interrupt This Program: A Woman Pioneer in Broadcasting Shares Her Story

Jackson is an experienced tour director, having gained travel experience in all fifty states and many foreign countries escorting groups on trips and cruises, some sponsored by the radio and television stations she represented.

Many years in radio and television afforded Carolyn experiences that ran the gamut from comedy to tragedy. In We Interrupt This Program..., she tells these tales with wit, humor, and sensitivity.

From being the first Austin television personality to jump local stations to jumping from a moving train, Carolyn spins a yarn that reveals not only the glamour of the world of radio and television, but also its occasionally darker side.

We Interrupt This Program... offers readers a unique peek into the lives of many of the television and movie stars Carolyn interviewed during her career and tells what it was like to work for Lyndon and Lady Bird Johnson and alongside the legendary Cactus Pryor.

Throughout the book, Carolyn reveals how her developing faith in God sustained her through triumphs, heartaches, and tragedy as she pursued her career, eventually leading her into a challenging new profession.

As a female pioneer in the communications industry, her name became a household word in Central Texas as a result of her popular television show Woman's World, later called The Carolyn Jackson Show. She also produced and hosted Austin's first radio call-in talk show for KLBJ-AM.
