Her compulsion to save a friend's little girl from suspected sexual abuse, however, jeopardizes her relationship with her lover Cordelia, a beautiful physician; her friends and professional associates; and, eventually, her own life as she goes underground to penetrate the veils of secrecy concealing a well-organized kiddie porn ring. Knight is a gutsy, fast-thinking PI in the Raymond Chandler tradition but has a sardonic ruefulness and humor that are pure 1990s.
