Introduction to Animal Parasitology (Classic Reprint)

A comprehensive introduction to animal parasitology that emphasizes real-world study, life cycles, and practical lab techniques.

Drawing on decades of research, this classic text focuses on parasites that can be examined in a living state, especially those from hosts kept in laboratories. It explains how parasites grow, mature, and reproduce in relation to their hosts and environment, with detailed life cycles and diagrammatic aids to help you see complex processes clearly. The book covers major parasite groups and highlights two fast-moving areas: immunity to animal parasites and methods for cultivating parasites in vitro. It also notes that scientific findings evolve quickly, so readers should expect new developments as the field advances. Illustrations and careful acknowledgments accompany the discussion, underscoring a collaborative, methods-focused approach suitable for students and laboratory researchers.

• Emphasis on living-state parasites and lab-friendly hosts for study
• In-depth life cycles linked to environment and physiology
• Progress in immunity and in vitro cultivation techniques
• Concise coverage of key parasite groups with practical diagrams

Ideal for readers beginning in parasitology or working in veterinary and medical contexts who want a clear, lab-oriented overview.
