An arithmetic book for elementary school students, published in 1863. Includes "mental, slate, and blackboard exercises" for children divided into sections including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Also includes brief sections on currency, linear and cubic measure, and fractions. Single vol. (6.5" by 4.5"), pp. 182, in-text illustrations including topical headpieces, in original illustrated boards backed in leather with image of boy at desk on front and advertisement for Webster's Unabridged Dictionary on the back. Contemporary inscription to front free endpaper ("Mabel Egleston, Croton Landing New York") and pencil inscription to upper board ("Mabel D[?]"). Fair to good, internally bright and clean. Extremities rubbed with dust soiling, some points of wear.
