Fair condition of this classic British general work on insects. Vol. 1 only, without covers, but text and color plates otherwise in good condition (no foxing), but title page missing (photocopy of similar title page inserted). Frontispiece color plate missing (beetles). This copy is unusual in being the 1st edition but released in 1816, with the attachment of the 30pp appendix, dated 1816, for the 2nd edition changes. The normal 2nd edition has the whole work redone and dated 1816. Seems the publisher had some 1st edition copies left over and added the appendix in 1816 before the full 2nd edition was printed, or only for Vol. l.
