An Introduction to Property Valuation

It is now 25 years since the first edition of this book was written, and the objectives of the fifth edition remain the same as those of the first edition, that is to provide "an introduction to and general background reading for the subject of property valuation". It is directed not just at would be surveyors and valuers, but at all those who may be interested in getting an understanding of property valuation.

The First Edition of 'An Introduction to Property Valuation' was published in 1975 to provide an introduction to and general background reading for the subject of property valuation. It was not directed solely at would- be valueres but was also intended for those studying subjects such as land economics, law, banking, quantity surveying and for anyone with an interest in property. The objective of the Fifth Edition remain the same and, accordingly, the use of technical language has been kept to a minimum, and examples have been used in a way which should assist understanding even for those with limited mathematical and valuation experience.Since 1975 there have been three further editions and a number of reprints, and the book has been widely used as a basic text in property courses in the United Kingdon. In addition, there have been considerable sales in other countries where it has also been used as a standard text.With each new edition the major emphasis has been upon seeking to improve the product, to update the contents, and to expand the topics covered to take account of developments in the world and in the property professions and property markets in particular. Over the years, updating has also sought to make the book more relevant to readers other than those who are based in the United Kingdon, and this Fifth Edition continues this process
