An Introduction to Quantum Theory (IOP Expanding Physics)

Based on the author’s long-standing course and teaching experience, this book provides a complete and comprehensive text for students in physics, maths, chemistry and engineering, needing a detailed introduction to quantum mechanics. Written in a lucid and engaging style, the material is approachable and easily accessible, and takes readers from an overview of classical mechanics and the historical development of quantum theory through to advanced topics. Although mathematical in approach, the author uses conceptual physical insights in the development of the mathematical formalism to help students understand the sometimes complex issues under discussion.

Jeff Greensite is a Professor of Physics at San Francisco State University with interests in theoretical high-energy physics, lattice gauge theory, quantum gravity, and string theory.
