Ex-library, with white numbers near the bottom of the spine, good to very good in original marbled boards with leather spine and corners. First signature in volume 1 is detached but present, and the front hinge in volume 1 is weak. All illustrations, including foldouts, are present, although one is detached but present. Much rubbing to the leather spine and boards, and some loss at the spine ends. Frontispiece to volume 1 is an engraved portrait of the author with the author's signature below. Volume 1 is 402 pages, volume 2 completes the main text at 759 pages and has 154 pages of additional material.
