Second rev. ed.; 320 p., clean and unmarked except for name of former owner on front end paper; paper age-toned but strong; many ill., photos, tables, maps; binding firm; unfaded brown boards with tarnished gilt lettering on spine; scratch across back board and fold at back upper corner, smoothed out, and faint circular stain at bottom of front board; slight rubbing at crown and foot of spine. Author was very prominent in mid 20th century sociology, developing a statistical approach, and serving as the 25th president of the American Sociological Association.
