9.5x13.5 cm. Original marbled wrappers, worn at edges and corners, with label on front and cloth binding strip. Front cover creased. 24 pp., folding chart, one folding map, one aquatint plate, one plate with overlay. The folding chart is defective, with large areas of loss at top and bottom. This is a small piece which documents the construction and situation of the Thames Tunnel, designed and constructed by Marc Isambard Brunel, father of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Work on this tunnel in East London was begun in 1825, but it was not opened until 1843. The illustrations show some of the design, a projection of the final internal appearance, the situation of laborers working in small cells in the construction, etc. Seller Inventory # b02188
