The Intuitive Basis Of Knowledge: An Epistemological Inquiry (1919)

The Intuitive Basis of Knowledge: An Epistemological Inquiry (1919) is a philosophical book written by N. O. Lossky. The book explores the fundamental question of how humans acquire knowledge and the role of intuition in the process. Lossky argues that intuition is the foundation of all knowledge, and that it is a direct and immediate apprehension of reality that cannot be reduced to logical or empirical analysis. He also examines the limitations of rationalism and empiricism, and proposes a new epistemological framework that integrates intuition, reason, and experience. The book is divided into three parts: the first part introduces the concept of intuition and its relation to knowledge; the second part discusses the limitations of rationalism and empiricism; and the third part presents Lossky's new epistemological framework. The Intuitive Basis of Knowledge is a seminal work in epistemology and a must-read for anyone interested in the nature of knowledge and the limits of human understanding. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
