Full bound leather fine bindings with polished calf leather to spines, with gilt line edging, raised banding and full gilt decorations to spines, with gilt lettering to red and light brown twin leather spine labels. And marbled endpapers and page edges. In very good condition. Some minor rubbing to edges and corners, with some light rubbing to boards, volume I & 6 top edge rear board a little faded, else covers clean and smart. Some minor/mild foxing spots to prelims and title pages, Inside pages all very clean, tight and bright throughout. Maps and plates overall all clean and bright. An excellent set. 6 volumes: Illustrated with B&W engraved plates and folding coloured maps. Fold out coloured view at frontis in vol.3. Kinglake followed the British expedition to the Crimea and wrote this exhaustive history at the invitation of Lady Raglan.
