Jimmy Castle, a homeless young drifter down on his luck, meets a pretty young waitress in a diner on the New York waterfront. While helping Sam take inventory at a neighborhood hardware store, the two uncover a forgotten crate of discarded nails and screws. The discovery unlocks buried memories and sets them on a journey into a tragic chapter of history—one Jimmy was never taught in school.
