Hardcover, small quarto; brown boards with gilt spine titling; 218pp., monochrome illustrations. Text block and page edges lightly toned; softened spine panel board extremities and binding very slightly rolled; rubbed dustwrapper with score on rear panel, light wear to edges. Wrapper now professionally protected by superior non-adhesive polypropylene film. Very good. Postage quoted is for a standard format octavo book. Final charges may vary depending on size and weight. This is a compilation of travel accounts in India, some dating to as early as the eighteenth century. Whether it is a visit to the Mughal court or a journey across Rajasthan on camelback, intrepid and now legendary travellers like Rousselet, Torrens and Edward Lear have faithfully recorded it all. Vivid and engaging, these accounts have been excerpted from rare books long out of print. The book's charm is enhanced by classic etchings by masters like Daniell, which speak more eloquently than words.
