Cambridge blue cloth. Spine slightly darkened, some embrowning of endpapers. Revised edition, combining the 1858 and 1877 editions, omitting eight poems and adding 20; erratum slip tipped in. The book was "so badly printed", writes Johnson/Cory's biographer Faith Compton Mackenzie, that later the same year the publisher took "the responsibility of producing in a better press another thousand copies". This copy with the pencilled ownership inscription of H.M. Adams, Trinity College, Cambridge, 1924; on the front pastedown facing the pencilled notes of David J. Hall.
