Item description from seller

Brown Cloth. Fine/Fine. Reprint; (c)1971- Pub. by Viking. Hardback. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. 7 page introduction and 206 B&W photos (plates). From the dj: "The dual nature of Ireland (great change since WWI vs Ireland's resistance to change) is illustrated most graphically by the old photographs in this book. Hardly one of them could conceivably belong to the present day, yet almost all are unmistakably Irish. These 200 and more pictures represent every aspect and region of the island in the sixty or so years preceding 1914. .Geographically, the pictures are equally representative. Dublin, Belfast, and Cork are given ample space, but so are the rural areas." Book condition: Pretty close to new from the bookstore.
