About this title

Synopsis

Irrigation and Religion: A Study of Religious and Social Conditions in Two California Counties is a book written by Edmund DeSchweinitz Brunner in 1922. The book is a detailed study of the impact of irrigation on the religious and social conditions of two California counties, namely Fresno and Tulare. Brunner examines how the introduction of irrigation technology transformed the landscape and economy of these regions, and how it affected the religious and social practices of the people who lived there. The book is divided into three parts. The first part provides a historical overview of irrigation in California and its impact on the development of the region. The second part focuses on the religious practices of the people in Fresno and Tulare counties, and how these practices were influenced by the introduction of irrigation. Brunner examines the role of religion in the lives of the people, and how it helped them cope with the challenges of living in a new and rapidly changing environment. The third part of the book examines the social conditions in the two counties, including the impact of irrigation on the economy, education, and social structure. Brunner explores the ways in which irrigation technology affected the lives of people in these regions, and how it contributed to the growth of towns and cities.Overall, Irrigation and Religion is a comprehensive study of the impact of irrigation on the religious and social conditions of two California counties. Brunner's work provides valuable insights into the ways in which technology can shape the cultural and social practices of a community, and how religion can play a role in adapting to these changes. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
