Third edition (1966) of a history of one of the largest privately held properties in California, from its origins as several Spanish and Mexican ranchos up to the point at which the city of Irvine was first proposed. Irvine is now one of the major cities of Orange County, and began as a master-planned community by the Irvine Company. This book is beautifully printed and bound, and meticulously documented, using records of the Irvine Company and public records from the Spanish, Mexican and U.S. periods of California history. 6¼ x 9¼ inches, 167 pages. Both book and dust jacket in very good condition, although the dust jacket is showing loss of dark green color at all edges, due to rubbing, as well as some small wear and tear to the edges.
